Cellulite is a condition that is used to depict what is known as deposits of fat beneath the skin that externally gives the skin a somewhat dimpled impression, something that in effect resembles a type of orange peel look.

It's effect is most generally observed in women, this is due to the fact that the fat is set up in large chambers, that is divided by columns of collagen fibres.

Fibrous strings of tissue link up your skin to deeper tissue layers that produces compartments of ordinary fat cells.

When the fat cells grow in size, the compartments then bulge out which then develops what is seen as a dimpling appearance on your skin.

Within a lot of people who are overweight the extra fat is forced into these compartments, which then causes them to bulge outwards.

The bulging on the surface of the skin then provides the dimply type appearance of cellulite.
It is especially prone to areas such as the thighs, hips and buttocks.

Cellulite is a predetermined condition by genetics so even the thinnest of women can develop the symptoms and appearance of cellulite.

There are a lot of elements that can attribute to the weakening of the collagen fibres, which give the look of cellulite.

For instance: Aging, throughout pregnancy and hormones.

There can be even some people who have been diagnosed as more or less morbidly obese that are not necessarily genetically pre disposed to cellulite yet display no symptoms of this condition in any kind of form.

A fairly important factor to bear in mind is, that although looking at cellulite on our bodies and finding it a rather unsightly condition, it is actually quite a normal condition that is carried by lots of people. Not only for women but also for quite a few men as well.

If you are someone that has a thicker skin than the average person, then the effect of the dimples or orange peel look can be less obvious when looked at. This can then in turn enforce even further the genetic predisposition.

It is an unfortunate fact that nothing can actually stop the aging process. So the problem can become more obvious with age, because as we start to get older the skin on our bodies starts to become thinner.
